Optimizing the migration of brand sites for Anheuser-Busch

Role: Lead User Experience Architect

Anheuser-Buch wanted to migrate a series of brand sites onto their digital marketing platform quickly, on a limited budget, and within the capabilities of the existing component set.

Limited documentation

We didn’t have a solid source of truth on the components and capabilities of the platform and the amount of time and effort it was going to take to migrate each site was estimated to exceed the budget.

Quick analysis

I performed a quick analysis across existing brand sites and the platform component set, finding that only 15 of the 64 components on the platform were needed to meet the needs of most sites.

Defining a common site structure

As a team, we began to define a common structure for the brand sites, including documenting the components and creating style classes.

Outcome

We were able to migrate brand sites with very little development effort, within budget. Yay!
